Once upon a time in the dark forest lived a lonely old man.
Not everyone liked this old man but he nonetheless spent his days contemplating his youth and young carefree days as a vagabond adventurer.
And what a life he had had, serving with the Irish Brigade in the French army. That is until he was sent to Scotland with the Irish Piquets in 1745. He had been shot in the leg at Culloden and had to retire from active service.
