Seldon Surak

edit

The first name was taken from Hari Seldon in the Foundation Series by Isaac Asimov. Hari Seldon created psychohistory, a form of advanced mathematics that made behavior of sufficiently massive numbers of humans predictible. He was therefore able to predict the future collapse of his galaxy-spanning civilization & take steps to shorten the period of barbarism before the second civilization could be established. [It was already too late to prevent the collapse.]

The last name was taken from Surak of Vulcan, the founder of the movement that led to peace, just in time to save his world. His movement prompted the warlike Vulcans to conquer emotions & use logic to govern behavior. I believe in practically the same thing, but slightly modified: logic tempered with compassion.

I use those 2 names because I can see mankind's best possible future AND know the steps necessary to reach it. I won't live long enough to reach 'utopia' & neither will you.

But life isn't about reaching a destination. It is about the journey from point A to point B, being on the right course, & getting as far as you can along that path in a single lifetime.
