I am PhD student working at NIOZ (Netherlands Institute of Sea Research) on the functionality of marine microbial communities in anoxic marine environments. My interests include marine microbial ecology and evolution, candidate symbiotic marine phyla and their role in the environment, the connections between microbial communities and biogeochemical cycles in the ocean, the evolution of the marine carbon cycle, and early earth and the emergence of life on the planet.
