On March 21, 1937, a peaceful march was organized by the Nationalist Party to commemorate the ending of slavery in Puerto Rico in 1873 by the governing Spanish National Assembly. The police, under the orders of General Blanton Winship, the US-appointed colonial Governor of Puerto Rico, opened fire at the peaceful Puerto Rican Nationalist Party parade, bringing about what came to be known as the "Ponce massacre": 19 people (including two policemen) were killed and over 100 were wounded.[55]

- So far the articles state that the number of people wounded were over 200 instead of the previously stated "over 100"-- must go into more detail and possibly find a primary source stating that it is indeed around 200 and not just "over 100".

Q#1: What were the events after the Ponce Massacre?

Q#2: What justification did General Blanton Winship and others make for this attack?

Q#3: Was anything done for the families of those killed and/or effected after the fact?

Q#4: Why was legal action not taken?
