Use of the Nº billion
The term billion in the US only refers to 1000 million whereas in other English-speaking countries it means 1 million million. Most people in Britain are not aware that the government of Harold Wilson in the 1970s resolved to employ the US format but many still ask in Britain which billion someone is using i.e. the British or US version.
