Ecnephias is a blackened death metal band from Potenza, Italy. They take their name from greek latin tradition and are notable for their mediterranean and atmospheric metal.
Biography
editThe band was formed in 1996 by vocalist and guitarist Mancan and drummer Atlos, who soon added second guitarist Akeron and bassist Namgyal. They self-released their first demo, November, in 2005; after this release, they were signed to Nekromantik Records. Their debut release was 2007's Dominium Noctis. 2008 saw the release of a new Ep Haereticus, on the same label, with a new line up featuring Antonio Donadeo (Vital Remains, Undertakers) on the drums.
To promote their music, Ecnephias went on tour in Italy supporting Opera IX, Frostmoon Eclipse, Exodus and others acts, playing at the Total Metal Festival with Malevolent Creation, Vomitory and Finntroll and at the Agglutination Metal Festival with Extrema, Vader and Udo.
Ecnephias will releas their third official album, Ways of Descention, in May of 2010, for Code666 Records.
2010 saw the return of original members Akeron and Atlos to Ecnephias.
