History edit

What is now known as Weintraub Tobin was primarily birthed as a result of the efforts of Malcolm S. Weintraub, Joseph S. Genshlea, Tony Giannoni, and Curtis C. Sproul: men known as Sacramento's legal pioneers. After their departure from the Downey Brand in 1978, they formed Weintraub, Genshlea, Giannoni & Sproul: a firm that specialized in corporate law and civil litigation.[1]. As the firm focused its scope of practice, Tony Giannoni, who maintained ambitions to become a real estate developer, and the firm decided to part ways. Unceasing in its determination to meet its clients' demands, the firm merged with Hardy, Erich & Brown to form Weintraub, Genshlea, Hardy, Erich & Brown. This merger marked another step towards Weintraub Tobin's current coverage of nearly all major practice areas. As the firm expanded, the resulting insurance defense group brought by Hardy, Erich & Brown took a different direction in its individual development.

At the end of 2012, Joe Genshlea, the firm's founding partner, decided to transition his career from litigation to mediation.[2] On January 1, 2012, Weintraub Genshlea Chediak merged with San Francisco, California-based Tobin & Tobin, the oldest practicing law firm in California.[3] This merger added 16 lawyers and several staff members.[4] On July 1, 2012, Weintraub Genshlea Chediak Tobin & Tobin merged with the Los Angeles entertainment and business law firm of Weissmann Wolff Bergman Coleman & Grodin: a firm founded in 1981 with a specialty in the entertainment industry, intellectual property, and new media.

Design edit

Recently remodeled in 2012 by MarketOne Builders, Weintraub Tobin is spread over 2 floors within the Wells Fargo Center encompassing a total of 44,900ft². Hines, Wells Fargo Center's owner and management entity, allotted Weintraub Tobin an allowance, approximately $1.92 million, that allowed the firm to integrate its office space to maximize synergy amongst its staff. For some, this meant relinquishing window space to allow for the creation of a large-scale dining area.[6]
