Stephanie F. Winn was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. She took up animal and human rights activism at the age of 14 then began traveling at the age of 16. At 18, she undertook a year and a half of spiritual purification in Hawai'i, where she studied nada and kundalini yoga under a western shaman. She then returned to her native Los Angeles to study Vedic scriptures and deepen her practice of kirtan. She obtained her Diploma in Ayurvedic Sciences from the Ayurveda Institute of America in 2005 and Yoga Teacher Certification from Yoga Works in 2007. She then obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies with University Honors from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2009.

Stephanie serves as Executive Assistant to AquaGenesis, a small business that sells environmentally friendly electronic water descaling devices. She also assists with a local biofeedback practice. She enjoys playing the mridanga drum for kirtan events in Santa Cruz and is instrumental in community creative gatherings. Her interests include environmental justice, bioremediation, ecological restoration, climate change mitigation and adaptation, permaculture, reinventing community, biodiversity, yoga, dance, holistic health, physiology, herbs, nutrition, vegetarian nutrition, and astrology. She hopes to one day participate in efforts to scientifically test the validity of ancient healing and esoteric arts, bridging two worlds she is equally passionate about.
