Daan Viljoen Game Park

edit

Located 25km west of Windhoek in the Khomas Hochland is one of the smallest yet important and old game reserves in Namibia [1]. It was named after a South African Administrator to Namibia and it was proclaimed a park in 1962. Approximately 4000ha of land it houses some of Namibia’s most rare and unique species [2]. There are no large predators in Daan Viljoen nature reserve but oryx, blue wildebeest, red hartebeest, klipspringer, steenbok, zebra, impala, giraffe and kudu roam freely [3].The fact that it is located in Highland Savannah makes it an ideal place for many species such as giraffe and baboons due to the abundance of bushes. There are also among others over 200 species of birdlife [4].
