Passion Killing in Namibia
editPassion killing refers to when a person(usually a man)kills his lover in a fit of passion after finding out she has been cheating. Crime passion There has been a rise in passion killings here in Namibia in recent years, maybe because cheating now means putting your partner at risk for HIV and you have life threatening illnesses thrown in with all that heartbreak.<br\>

The has been several cases of passion killings in Namibia like the death of Polytechnic of Namibia student Elizabeth Tuwilika Ekanjo aged 21 years old, who was allegedly strangled to death with a tie by her former boyfriend Gabriel Jana Petrus [1] and the other victim was Eita aged 35 who was brutally killed by her fiancé, the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) member Johannes Nangolo at Okahao on a Friday after he suspected her of having an affair and later on he had killed himself seconds after ending the life of his girlfriend.[2]. My final research was on the death of Patricia Hango aged 23 and Natangwe Mokanya aged 42, both Hango and Mokanya’s bodies were found in a silver Toyota Corolla vehicle at the NUNW offices. Mokanya shot Hango three times in the abdomen, once in the arm and head, before turning the gun on himself. He shot himself through the ear [3].
The Namibian Vice-Chairperson of the National Council Margreth Mensah Williams has called for a National conference on passion killings to find practical solutions to these problems because this issue has been going on for quite some time and we need to take a step forward in reducing such crimes.Call for conference on passion killing in Namibia
My conclusion is that people who commit passion killings are committed by weak minded and self centered individuals. The fact that people invest money in their lovers or shower them with expensive gifts does not give them the right to kill them when they are rejected or casted away.
