I am a sports photographer, live-data programmer and history buff for the Minneapolis, Minnesota area and the Mississippi River.
I have lived in Minnesota since 1983.
Some of the websites I have created or contributed to include Star Tribune[1], USCHO.com, D3hoops.com, D3football.com, WCCO.com[2], | d3photography.com and countless others.
I generally add artwork to pages that are lacking it from photos taken out of my personal library, 95% work I took myself the other 5% taken by photographers who work for me at D3sports.com. The rare Div-I Hockey photo that appears is still owned by me although I was an unpaid stringer for USCHO.com (I now string for CollegeHockeyNews.com). Their guidelines state that they have rights to the image for seven days after it is taken and after that time frame it can be picked up by any news service, website or other media entity. Wikipedia seems to be a good outlet for this work.
I am not looking to advertise myself, my services, my photographs or my employers when I upload my photos. However I do wish to know when someone is using the photo and discourage illegal propagation of my works by placing a watermark or logo for the appropriate website within the photo. For the case of Justin Beaver photos I was on an assignment with D3football.com and the photos are theirs (and have the D3sports.com logo on them). My USCHO photos either have no logo or, when they are a significant news item such as the first image on the Jack Skille page they will bear one version or another of my Ryan Coleman Photography (RCP) logo.
