This page is an essay currently being developed to express the opinions and ideas of some Wikipedians. It is not being proposed as official policy. If you agree with the general sentiment then please feel free to contribute and improve the essay.

Userboxes are not only not harmful to Wikipedia, many actively help improve the encyclopedia. If an editor voluntarily reveals his point of view, it helps other editors better understand how to work with that person, as well as what interests and areas of expertise he is likely to possess.

(Expansions on the above proposition to follow. Feel free to contribute; I know that I'm far from the only one to hold this view. Once this essay takes form, it will be contributed to project space.)
