I was the volunteer reserve warden at Bowdown Woods for 25 years until I stepped down in 2016. I've been doing practical conservation work in the reserve since 1985 and still lead conservation work parties there. I have been recording butterflies at the reserve since 1986 and began recording dragonflies and damselflies in 2000. In 2016, for my own interest, I wrote a detailed account of the history of the reserve and its place in the local landscape. This also included a description of how the site was acquired by BBOWT and how it has been managed, both historically and up to the present day. My additions to the Wiki entry for Bowdown Woods originate in that account.
