The 2020–21 Liga III is the 5th season, since its introduction in 2016, of the third level women's football league of the Romanian football league system. The number of starting teams in Liga III decreased from 19 to 12. Therefore, 12 teams divided in 2 series (of 6 teams) are to play in the competition that consists of a double round-robin lasting 10 stages, totaling 60 matches.[1] Due to the 2019-20 coronavirus pandemic, the season started only on 14 March 2021.

Student Sport Alba Iulia was at the top of 2019–20 Liga III, Seria III, but decided to merge into Măgura Cisnădie and therefore did not promote to Liga II.
