Tipp Kick is a game for two players that is a football simulation. It was invented in Germany in the 1920s. The playing area consists of a board, two goals, two goal keepers, two field players that may be randomly placed, as well as a 12-sided two-coloured ball.

As opposed to table football in which players are attached to rotating bars, in Tipp Kick field players are moved on the pitch as desired. By pressing the button on top of the player figure the right leg moves forward and kicks the ball. The ball has 12 corners and two differently coloured halves, usually black and white, more rarely yellow and red.

Tipp Kick is being played competitively in Germany, with about 50 clubs and a national association[1].

Rules

edit

A German Tipp Kick tournament pitch has a size of 106 cm x 70 cm[2]. At any time only one field player per side is positioned on the playing field. Field players are assigned colours (black and white being the most common colours), and after kicking a ball that field player whose colour is at the top of the ball may play next. The goal keeper is allowed to play the ball at any time regardless of colour if it is within the penalty area. At half time sides and colour are switched. Only one ball is used for the duration of a game. The side that scores the most goals within a game of 2 x 5 minutes wins. An extension of 2 x 2 minutes is possible. Goals may be scored from any location of the playing field, except during kick-off or kick-in (equivalent to throw-in). A field player may be positioned as a defence player during a kick of the opponent, but may at most be placed as far back as the edge of the own penalty area and must keep a distance of at least two player's length from the ball [3].
