There is a content dispute concerning articles about the (human and robotic) exploration of Mars. The content issues are primarily about the extent to which there should be coverage of risks of return of Martian organisms to Earth.

However, user conduct issues make it nearly impossible to resolve the content dispute.

The Arbitration Committee is not being asked to resolve the content dispute, but is being asked to address conduct issues that prevent resolution of the content dispute.

Improper procedure in closing an Article for Deletion in which the consensus was MERGE. The merged article was redirected by a critic of the article to a fringe organization, rather than to the article into which it was merged.

Irregularities in the AfD edit

As editor opposing me in a dispute of content on an article and opposed to creation of the article, he takes the article to AfD on his version of the article with most of the notable content removed.

This originates in a content dispute and before the AfD I was prevented from working on the article by him for about three weeks - from 26th May to 16th June

Does a B removing much of my article heavily cited over a series of edits in quick succession (I attempt one RD in the middle but fail)

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Concerns_for_an_early_Mars_sample_return&diff=557062456&oldid=556800566

I attempt an R and ask for D

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Concerns_for_an_early_Mars_sample_return&diff=next&oldid=557062456

WP undoes my R

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Concerns_for_an_early_Mars_sample_return&diff=next&oldid=557072487

He then continues to work on it in the main space and over a period of time gradually removes nearly the whole article in a series of bold edits

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Concerns_for_an_early_Mars_sample_return&diff=560233998&oldid=557072487

That is the state it was in at the start of the AfD.

During AfD I attempt to revert to the version of the article that I was working on before the AfD. This is on the second day of the AfD

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Concerns_for_an_early_Mars_sample_return&diff=562471464&oldid=560258105

He permits me to work on it for 17th-18th June

WP, the editor proposing deletion of the article, then reverts to his version and won't let me work on it

N2e restores it so I can continue here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Concerns_for_an_early_Mars_sample_return&diff=560509121&oldid=560489917

WP immediately reverts again.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Concerns_for_an_early_Mars_sample_return&diff=560527799&oldid=560509121

Finally he restores it on the 19th here

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Concerns_for_an_early_Mars_sample_return&diff=next&oldid=560527799

The AfD started on the 16th June, so this is 3 days into the AfD

The last time I was able to edit it before this was on 26th May. The article was still very much work in progress at that point.

I had an alternative version of the page which I'd been working on in my user space but was advised by VQuakr that I shouldn't use that so had to work on it again from scratch.

I was working on the article throughout the second half of the AfD and N2e commented in the AfD that it was hard to judge the article due to all the rapid changes in the article.

Added "Rough consensus" section to the AfD

Warns other editors not to talk to me edit

This has made it next to impossible for me to seek help from others - for the last month or two whenever I try to talk to a sympathetic editor, nearly always one or other of BI or WP or both will intervene warning them off with extreme insults.

BI accuses me of being a SPA

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk%3AWikiProject_Microbiology&diff=563586952&oldid=563580875

I am not. In last few months have devoted nearly all my efforts on wikipedia to fending off these attacks on my material on contamination issues so may seem like an SPA for that reason, but normally write on many topics.

BI puts same warning on WikiProject Environment

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk%3AWikiProject_Environment&diff=563588428&oldid=563581217

WP warns Wavelength not to talk to me

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk%3AWikiProject_Environment&diff=563602342&oldid=563599490

Then insults Wavelength for including material on the Jehovah Witnesses and Creationism in his user space:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk%3AWikiProject_Environment&diff=563618621&oldid=563608357

WP warns another editor Looie496 not to talk to me

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk%3AWikiProject_Biology&diff=563558017&oldid=563549474

BI warns DanHobley on his talk page http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3ADanHobley&diff=562644350&oldid=562620680

When N2e complains on WPs talk page about his insults, BI warns N2e about me, and compliments WP on his self control.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3AWarrenPlatts&diff=560220663&oldid=558990245

Then BI gives WP a Civility Barn Star for his self control

Removes all my contributions on contamination issues edit

WP took the AfD as his authority to remove all my contributions on contamination issues from MarsProject

States his aim here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk%3AMars_sample_return_mission&diff=561730149&oldid=561689953 (Those "contributions" will be redacted)

WP doesn't call it a topic ban as such there, just says he will remove all my content. He proposes a topic ban of me much later on the Project Mars talk page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk%3AWikiProject_Mars&diff=562129578&oldid=562093426

Proceeds to remove the content over several days, highly cited content, without discussion,

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Colonization_of_Mars&diff=561846834&oldid=560759649

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Manned_mission_to_Mars&diff=561832293&oldid=561166717

I attempt to revert that last one and ask for discussion

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Manned_mission_to_Mars&diff=next&oldid=561832293

He immediately reverts:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Manned_mission_to_Mars&diff=next&oldid=561898587

He then archives the talk page for Manned mission to Mars, which included an open discussion on how to deal with the issues in the section he removed from the Manned mission on Mars:

Talk:Manned_mission_to_Mars/Archive_1#This_article_is_more_of_an_essay an open discussion of how best to deal with those issues

In same period, after WPs announcement of the topic ban, BI also archives three talk pages with open discussions by me - see below for the archived talk pages, separate section.

WP collapses talk page section

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Mars&diff=next&oldid=562129941

See collapsed section here:

Archiving talk pages with open discussions edit

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk%3AMars_sample_return_mission&diff=563833007&oldid=563831204

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk%3AWater_on_Mars&diff=561678885&oldid=561620153

It includes "Suggestion for new article: The Present-Day Habitability of Mars"

and the discussion: "Deletion of section on Possibility of Mars having enough water to support life"

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk%3AManned_mission_to_Mars&diff=562121565&oldid=562085449

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk%3ALife_on_Mars&diff=561846316&oldid=561494187

This includes an open RfC which had been inactive for only 2 days about a dispute between BI and I which hasn't been resolved (he refused request to engage in dispute resolution).

Improper merge of an article while a BRD discussion was underway edit
