Birth and School

Born April 30, 1990, in Regina, Sk, Canada, Robert Patrick Gareau was born to a middle class family. The son of a highway patrolman and a loving accountant of a mother, he attended elementary school at St. Angela Merici where he was an honours student. He was his elementary school's athlete of the year. He moved on to attend secondary school at Archbishop M.C. O'Neill High School. In his grade 12 year, he was chosen as Valedictorian of his class. He now currently attends the University of Regina in the Faculty of Arts: Pre-Journalism

Athletics

Rob Gareau has had a passion for sports his entire life. He decided to join the city hockey league at age seven and he continued with hockey for the next nine years, hitting his peak when he attended WHL camps. In elementary school he also played Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, and Lacrosse. When he graduated to high school, he began playing several other sports. In his grade 9 year, he played football, volleyball, and hockey for the high school team. In his grade 10 year, he added basketball and badminton to his arsenal. In grade 11 he played all five sports again, being chosen for the city all star team for basketball, volleyball and football. Grade 12 was very similar to grade 11, except for he also won the city championship for badminton in mixed doubles. He was also chosen as athlete of the year in grade 11 and grade 12.

When Rob Gareau was 16 he was chosen to represent the Team Saskatchewan Volleyball team in Sherwood Park. It was after this that he chose to give up the sport of hockey and instead switch to Volleyball. The following year, he was again chosen for the team and he started at Left Side. However, in his first year of University he played for the football team. He is currently trying to get started in volleyball again.
