Education

Oranjemund has the Oranjemund Private School (OPS) that was opened in 1952 and till 2008 accommodated learners from grades 0 to 7. OPS's external structure is complemented my its famous clock tower which was acquired from the ghost town Kolmanskop. OPS pupils annually has Inter house competitions between the 3 houses, Barnato, Rhodes and Oppenheimer which represent the colors green, red and blue respectively. The pupils allocated in these houses take part in competitions such as swimming galas, athletics, quizzes and cross country running.
In 2009 OPS expanded its grade admissions and started accommodating Grade 8 learners. In 2012, OPS offers grades 0 to 11 and Grade 12 being introduced in 2013. OPS has performed well locally and internationally in academic and sports fronts.

Academic

OPS's first Grade 10 students that enrolled for the Junior Senior Certificate (JSC) examinations fared well, namely Tanya Namases and Kylé Kruger with the latter achieving the award for Best Candidates in the Karas Region. Namases was awarded with the Third Best Candidate in the Karas Region. The school overall was the best performing school in the JSC examinations in their respective region.

Sport

OPS pupils took part in the annual Africa Inter School Badminton championship which took place in Pretoria marking the first time in Namibian Badminton history that Namibia is represented by school and country. Under the coaching of Lynn du Prez, OPS managed to guided the boys team to bronze medals and the girls team to gold medals, crowning them African Schools champions and posting the best results in Namibian badminton history OPS also performed well in the Momentum National Schools’ Hockey Challenge where the boys U/18 team won their category.
