Riya Sokół, aka: Pati Sokół (born on the 7th of December 1981 in Warsaw) – polish speaker, artist and performer.[1].

Biography

She was born as Ptrycja Sokół. She used that name until the beginning of her music career. She finished studies as a psychology major from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Warsaw[2]. From the age of 6 to 14 she danced and sang in Children sing and dance group Varsovia, where she was a soloist. At the age of 9 she recorded a song with Ryszard Rynkowski for "Heart for a Smile" Foundation. Through her teenage years, she sang in various choirs and bands [3].

Artistic Career

She debuted in March 2012 with the single “Woman’s work” under the name of Pati Sokół. Weronika Rosati was a guest star in the music video[4][5]. The song was nominated for an audience award - CyberYacha at Yach Film 2012.[6] Her second single called “(Let’s get) Naked” had a guest appearance of Tomasz Kot.[7]

Next single, Neverland was released in May 2013, had Maciej Sthur as a guest[8].


In 2014, she released the first album, “Neverland”. The album was accompanied by a musical spectacle produced under the wings of her Foundation Neverland, and it has been played all over Poland supporting people touched by depression and their families. The show was performed for two yeas on stages all over Poland, including Warsaw’s theatre Teatr Polonia[9][10].

A second album titled I’mperfect/Nie’doskonałe was released in 2017. It was created in collaboration with Whisbear and was dedicated to women and mothers all over the world[11]. Catherine, Princess of Wales also received a copy of the album and expressed her great pleasure in listening to it[12].

In 2019 for “Awaken as Love” song, Riya received a Global Music Awards award[13].

After recovering from an illness in 2016 she changes her name to Riya and started teaching people about mindset and conscious living.[14]

She also conducted meditations in Healthy Center by Anna Lewandowska[15][16].

Vocalist, actress

Her voice is categorized as coloratura soprano with extended scale[17] and commonly used in film scores.

Her voice can be heard in intro of Borys Lankosz’s TV series “Paradoks” composed by Mikołaj Storiński. She also appeared in one of the episodes[18].

In september 2011 she supported Fundacja TVN Nie jesteś sam foundation by performing song You are not alone on Pepsi Arena during a charity football match. Match was emitted live on TVN television[19].

In 2014 Riya took part in an artistic event called “Addiction” which took place in Grand Theatre, Warsaw. At the end of Piotr Hull’s performance he shaved her head as an act of solidarity with her friend suffering from cancer[20].

Songwriter

In 2014, she wrote the English version of Paweł Lucewicz’s promotional song from Jan Komasa’s Warsaw 44 film. She sings alongside Ania Iwanek and Piotr Cugowski[21][22]. On 30th of July in 2014 before the film premiere she performed at the National Stadium in Warsaw in front of Polish president Bronislaw Komorowski and 12 000  viewers. Song received Kamer-TON 2014 award[23][24].

She is the lyrics author and performed of songs composed by Paweł Lucwicz for TV series Przyjaciółki directed by Grzegorz Kuczeriszki[25].

She is the author of the viral video-poem Thank You, coronavirus. The poem raised the subject of global pandemic and was translated into a dozen of languages and won multiple international awards[26][27][28].
