I'm a researcher and urban planner interested in poverty reduction and the social impacts of housing on the lives of the poor. I have a PhD in City and Regional Planning at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and was an associate professor in the Evans School of Public Affairs and Governance at the University of Washington from 1999 to 2012. I am now professor and head of the City and Regional Planning Section of the Knowlton School of Architecture at the Ohio State University. Most of my research is about the social impacts of affordable housing, with a special emphasis on the impact of location and social mixing on social networks. For more about me and my research, see my blog page.
