Heathens is an Australian independent animated web series created and directed by Neda Lay and produced by Studio Psycho.
The pilot is set to be released between late 2024 to early 2025.[1]
Synopsis
editSet in the outskirts of Hell, the pilot follows Axel, as he's on a task to take down a hellhound while also dragging along his other friends, Aura and Carlos into an action-packed fight against the hellhounds.
- Patrick Mealey as Axel, a rookie scout and definitely-not-slacking guard of the Sentinels.
- Michelle Jin as Aura, a resident arsonist, and huntress of the Hunters Inquisition.
- Samuel Carlson as Carlos, a reserved blacksmith and brain cell babysitter of the trio.
- Rebecca Chiara Marano as Hellhounds, small fuzzy forms that can transform into dangerous cryptids.
Production
editThe independent animation crew, Studio Psycho, was set up by "a dream team of both award-winning/nominated and on-the-rise artists from around the world.", with team members having worked from animation studios such as Glitch Productions, Netflix Animation, Nickelodeon Animation Studio, Disney Television Animation & SpindleHorse Toons.
The production of the pilot begin in late 2022, and on April 23rd, 2024, they began a crowdfunded Kickstarter campaign in hopes of receiving AU$ 60k to finish the rest of the production.[3]
