Shortly after the German invasion of Norway, the Allies launch a counter-attack, aimed at Narviks capture, to gain a bridgehead in Norway, and to disrupt Swedish-German ore trade. Germany requests Sweden to transit German personel, armaments, and supplies, to Norway, but this is denied, due to the fact that Norway is a theatre of war, and "the Swedish feelings for the Norwegian bretherin". However, when the Allies evacuate Narvik, and withdraw from the Norwegian theatre of war, this argument is invalid, and Sweden grants Germany to transit personel on leave. This transition traffic will last from 18 June 1940 to 15 August 1943.
