Reported username

I reported User:Ticktockcock to the username notice board, successful block. — Realist2 01:11, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Excellent work, reporting usernames to UAA is an oft-overlooked facet of Wikipedia. You do have to be careful there, though, because reporting too many usernames that don't end up being too questionable can be seen as being bitey. Useight (talk) 03:42, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Point taken, I will only report the very obvious bad ones. — Realist2 13:03, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

I helped change official Wikipedia policy

See here, the genre field on artists and albums has been removed, singles still have the genre field on the info box but there will be a vote on that in near future. — Realist2 00:12, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Wow, nice work. I saw your related essay at User:Realist2/Genre Warrior. Way to get actively involved in the goings-on around here. I don't know if you plan on creating an RFA anytime in the near future, but I think you'll be ready for the role without much further delay. Useight (talk) 03:59, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Adoption

I was thinking of adopting someone properly, full time, I did kind of adopt User:Xp54321, but that was 80% just giving him moral support and only 20% teaching him anything. Is there a place I can look to adopt people or do you know anyone who needs adopting. I'm sure you bump into a lot of needy people as an admin. :-) What you think? Is this a good idea? Also shall we archive some of this page? — Realist2 01:20, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

One thing you can do is add your name to the list at Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User/Adoptee's Area/Adopters. You may also want to take a look at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user, there are 15 users there who want to be adopted. Most of those listed in the category have very few edits, but at least edited this month, so they are potential adoptees. I also agree that some of this page should be archived, I didn't realize it was getting so long. Useight (talk) 02:49, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
OK, I'll take a look at that, let you know how it goes and I'll set up an archive. :-) — Realist2 15:19, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Well, I'm currently adopting one editor (as my user page shows), he's relatively an inactive editor and English is not his main language but he is a good person, trying to do his best. I'm sure he will develop very well. — Realist2 02:17, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

That RfA for User:Efe

Well my first RfA nomination went really well, Efe passed with flying colors, I knew he would. What did you think of my nomination? How could I have made it better? — Realist2 02:17, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

I think it was quite a good nomination. The only way I can think of to make it better, would've been to include a few diffs of his excellent work. A few diffs that prove your point would have made the nomination all the stronger. Useight (talk) 03:10, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
OK, something to note for next time. I plan to nominate more people if they will let me. :-) — Realist2 03:21, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
It's best if you have worked with the candidate somewhat in the past rather than just randomly showing up to nominate them, but if you know some individuals that would make good admins, then nominate away. We could always use more good administrators. Useight (talk) 07:02, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I promise to only nominate people I know. Strangers might have "skeleton's in the closet" or something worse. I;m coming around to the idea that we do need more admins and have become more lax in my criteria. — Realist2 12:30, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm tagging images now too

I've been doing a lot of image tagging recently, I've correctly tagged quite a lot of images and they've been deleted. I'm also doing a lot more vandalism reverting than I used to. Images, page protection, AIV (a little), AN/ANI (a little). I'm still doing article writing (I got 2 GA's last week). I kind of finally feel I know my way around a little. — Realist2 00:35, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Sweet. Sounds like you're getting to know your way around more than just a little. Images is an area that I never touch because I'm not familiar with the fair use policy and such. I think in the time I've known you, you've become a much more well-rounded editor. I looked at your last several AIV reports and they were all blocked, so I think you've got a good handle on when to block and when not to do so. Useight (talk) 00:53, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
Cheers, I couldn't have done it without a friendly push from you though, I was too nervous to try anything new a few months ago. — Realist2 00:59, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Well where next?

Well, now that I've had some time to reflect on my...odd...RfA, I wonder where I go next. I've developed a lot recently, I've branched out so far. When I originally came to you, I spoke about how I felt...under appreciated, disliked etc. Well I don't feel that anymore, I know there are editors who seek my advise and look up to me. My attitude has certainly improved, I'm much more restrained, I feel like I have quite thick skin, I can argue my point diplomatically. — Realist2 07:22, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
