Hon. Rasheed Shabi is the current member representing LAgos Mainland Constituency 02 at the 10th Assembly of the Lagos State House of Assembly

Hon. (Engr) Rasheed Adebola Shabi. was born in Lagos Mainland Local Government on August 26, 1960, and grew up there. He attended Africa Church Primary School, in Ebute-Metta. From where he wrote the Common Entrance Examination and got admitted into the Federal Government College. FGC, Kano. Having finished with good grades from his secondary school, He won a UNESCO scholarship to Romania to study Chemical Engineering where he had his Masters degree in 1985. He travelled back to Nigeria to undergo the mandatory one-year service of the NYSC in 1986/87 at the Chemical & Allied Products (now known as Deluxe Paints) at Adeniyi Jones in Ikeja. Upon completion of NYSC, after few months he relocated to London and worked at the Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), London. Afterwards, relocated to the United States where he underwent some jobs and did some courses. He joined full Nigerian politics on the heel of the beginning of the 4th republic when Nigeria embraced democratic governance in 1999. Prior to these times, He had been contemplating returning home to emulate bringing developmental ideas he had seen in other countries back home. He started getting involved in politics and leadership under the umbrella of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) making meaningful impact in grassroot development in Yaba through numerous intervention programs among which are the distribution of over 7000 exercise books to the schools within the Lagos Mainland environs. In 2003, He joined the contest to become the Executive Chairman of YABA LCDA making him the first Executive CHairman of the LCDA. while he was the Executive Chairman of Yaba LCDA in 2003-2007. Under his adminstration, he implemented numerous projects, among which are the construction of Igbobi-Sabe Road, through direct labour, thereby providing jobs for the youth in the area. Rehabilitation of lot of schools within the LCDA as well as donating academic facilities like desks to schools like Fazl-I-Omar Primary and secondary School in Iwaya among other schools in Yaba LCDA environs. During the administration, drainage channels were properly cleared and maintained in places like Iwaya, Abule-Ijesha and Oyadiran/Makoko he constructed over 65 boreholes, and numerous roads projects namely Owodunni – Ajoke street, Owodunni with streetlights, Ajayi – Araromi street, Ajayi street with streetlights, David Street and Ebun Street, at Abule-Oja, Old Yaba Road streetlights, Borno Way streetlights, Queens Road, streets, and boreholes in various communities in Makoko, and many more. All of these projects led to job creation as employment for the youth in the constituency and many of them are still working there as at today. He equally rehabilitated some of the public health centers.

In the first 100 days of his quality representation, Hon. Rasheed Adebola Shabi has facilitated the provision of back to school programs being an intervention program to appreciate students who turned up for his sponsored free summer coaching exercise aimed at engaging the secondary students within his constituency during the last long holiday where back pack with full school kits where presented to about 1000 students as well as educational reading Tabs for the best performing students from all the centres of the free summer coaching. He has currently facilitated the ongoing road rehabilitation of the Igbobi-Sabe environs within his constituency while placing his beam light towards other possible intervention for his constituency at large.
