My name is Raja Deekshitar M.A. and I am a Managing Trustee of the Shri Nataraja temple in Chidambaram, India. As an independent research scholar interested in all aspects of the various ancient traditions and sciences of the Indian civilization I am researching all kinds of subjects relating to history and the traditions. I have publishes two books and many articles, both in the printed and electronic media. And I have several websites where I present my research.
I was born as a member of the traditional priestly family called Deekshitar that has been the guardian of the ancient temple of Shri Shiva Nataraja in Chidambaram. This family is unique to Chidambaram. It is my vision to combine the ancient heritage with the modern scientific approach. I have therefore followed both an academic and traditional education. I learned various traditional sciences with masters and studied the traditions. This enables me to understand and present treasures of wisdom and beauty from my ancestors through a scientific perspective.
In the past 35 years I have been teaching and lecturing, sharing my knowledge with countless researchers, students and visitors, both in India and in the West.
