A polymath graduate of University College London with a keen interest in health, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and related topics but who is also a vice-president of Granta Design Ltd., an engineering software company that spun out of Cambridge University. He was also chairman of Aldbury Parish Council (2001 - 2010) and a member of the Council from 1999 - 2010.
