I chose to compare the English article on "Mormons" to the French article. I chose this topic because I grew up in Utah as a Mormon and have found concepts of Mormonism to be incredibly varied across the world -- even across the United States. I chose to compare it to the French article for a couple reasons. I had a good friend from Utah who was not Mormon who later studied abroad in France for a time. As a somewhat impartial observer, he later told me that it was interesting to meet French Mormons (there are about 35,000 of them) who attempted to balance the Mormon church's America-centric doctrines and history with a very prideful French patriotism.

The concept similarity between the two was only 28%, sharing topics as the Bible, Joseph Smith, Priesthood, and Salt Lake City. The English version, far more extensive (the U.S. contains more than 6 million Mormons), includes much more information about the Church's history and cultural stances -- such as gay marriage and feminism, two things the Church has historically opposed. Those topics are notably absent from the French article (as far as my poor translation skills can tell). Luna002 (talk) 13:57, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
