Explain why you chose the subject/language
editI chose Kim because she is a controversial American celebrity, and I was wondering how another country's wikipedia would chose to depict her. Specifically, I was wondering what the difference in reporting would be on the sex tape she was in, and how they would treat other scandal's she has been involved in. I chose to compare English and Chinese article pages because I figured a more strict government might filter the more "risque" information, or might choose to depict her in a different way than the English article.

Similarities
editThese two articles are very similar. They both provide background information about Kim, including listing her families names and her heritage along with her brief marriage histories. They even use some of the same pictures. Both provide filmographies that include her television and film titles that are not fully comprehensive.
Differences
editThey are also very different. For starters, the most startling difference (to me anyway) is the listing of Kim's height and her "measurements" (35D-26-40) on the Chinese page. Who knows what those specific measurements are based on, considering she changes her appearance constantly. The Chinese article is very brief, and doesn't mention anything about her sex tape or details about her life really. The English page has descriptions of court cases and settlements, including dollar amounts and sponsorships broken down by year. While both pages describe her marriage to Kris Humphries, the English page talks about the public's reaction to it as well as the controversy surrounding it while the only controversial thing the Chinese page mentions about her marriage is the use of the word "lighting" to describe the speed of the divorce filings. The filmography differs not only in categorization (English page breaks down by film and television and a "herself" category while the Chinese page simply uses "television works") but in listings as well, with both pages lacking and providing a few different apperances that the other does or doesn't provide. The English page cites 81 different references while the Chinese page only cites 5. The English page claims her "years active" are from 2005-present while the Chinese page claims its 2007-present.
Does what you found deviate from what you expected?
editYes and no. I was expecting the Chinese version to lack details of her involvement in various scandals, but not to skip the mentioning of them altogether. I also was not expecting either to have her measurements, which is why I was surprised even more considering the Chinese version listed her measurements but not list the scandals. I was expecting both to be a little bit longer in length. The Chinese version is much more brief than I expected, considering it really only provides about one paragraph worth of "juicy-less" details about Kim. I expected the English version to provide information about her plastic surgeries and the controversy around them, but they are not mentioned. I expected many more scandals and details about Kim to be on the page as well, rather than a specific year by year listing of basically her sponsorships and lawsuits.
