I chose the English and Japanese Wikipedia articles for comparison for firearms because the two articles would likely have a different perspective on the use of firearms since they are illegal for civilian use in Japan, but legal in some English speaking countries like the US. Both articles are long, detailed, and start by covering the basics of a physical and mechanical description of firearms. Organizationally, the English article jumps to the history of firearms right away, while the Japanese article describes different processes and mechanics of firearms in greater detail earlier on in the article. The English article has a lot more information on the legality of firearms than the Japanese article. Another thing the articles have in common is their large amount of coverage on different types of firearms. Overall the articles were about what I expected, except for the amount of legal information on the Japanese article. I thought the Japanese article would go over this part of the topic and related issues since the government decided to make firearms illegal, but the topic only gets a brief mention near the end of the article.--Jeflicki (talk) 01:05, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
