I decided to do a comparison of the English and Russian versions of the Wikipedia articles on Dr. Seuss. I decided this topic because Dr. Seuss is one of the most famous children s authors in the United states and I was curious as to weather or not other country viewed him this way. The reasons I picked the English and Russian are simple I picked English because those users will most likely know the most about Dr. Seuss and I picked the Russian version because I thought there country might be the one to know the least about Dr. Seuss.

The English version of the article as you can guess is very lengthy. It provides a very in depth history of Dr. Seuss going from early life, through college and world war 2 to his eventual death. The Russian version in comparison only covers Dr. Seuss's life briefly in only one section unlike the 2 sections which contain sub-sections in the English version. The Russian version and English version both describe his works along and they both also describe how his works where adapted into film and into television shows. Things that the English version has that the Russian version does not are sections devoted to Seusses political views in his books, His poetic meters, and a section devoted to explaining the artwork in his books. The English version also has a list of the books he has published which the Russian version is missing.

After comparing the two versions I was not very surprised at what I found. The Russian version was just a shorter and simpler version than the English one. The only thing I found surprising was that the Russian version lacked a list of Dr.Seuss's works. That seemed like a very important feature to have when describing a author.--Youngpenn (talk) 15:20, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
