I decided to compare the English and Chinese Wikipedia pages on Batman. I choose batman because he is a big cultural figure in the united states and I was curious if his page would be as detailed and in depth in another language as it is in English. I choose Chinese because they seemed to be the least likely to be widely exposed to the batman and might have a unique perspective on him.
When You pull the up batman article on the english Wikipedia page it is mainly focused on who batman is and it is mainly based on the comics. It talks about the Comics publication History and gives a biography of Golden age batman , silver age, and modern age batman. it also talks about other characters including batman's enemies. Along with batman's skills, equipment, bat-signal and bat-cave. It also goes onto detail on batman's cultural impact. The concepts the Chinese version covers are very similar it covers the Batman comics publication history and the characters in the comics as well and batman's main enemies as well. But it also has sections on Batman's relationship with superman which is mentioned in the English version but is not seen as not worthy enough to be given its own section. the Chinese version is also has sections on the Batman movies and Cartoon and Game which is missing from the English version because those subjects are given there own pages.
The two pages are fairly similar to what I expected. The Chinese version is just a less detailed version of the English one. The only note worthy difference is that the Chinese version puts more emphasis on batman's and superman's relationship.--Youngpenn (talk) 15:21, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
