Philosophies, Mantras, Etc. edit

1. I'm an art person. As such, I see the decline of the Appreciator and the rise of the Philistine as most troublesome. Not one to do nothing about the situation, I make it my daily (pseudo-daily?) business to promote art in all its forms in wherever I go. So, as I prowl the pages of wikipedia, I sprinkle some info here and there because it is my ardent belief that resonance reveals relevance which leads to respect (respect being the gatekeeper at Casa de Appreciation). Basically, I do what I can to show why we can relate to artists long dead and gone so that seeing these pieces wakes up something inside of us, and we respect these objects as something more than dusty knick-knacks or things shockingly similar to crafts we made in our high school pottery classes. This is part of my grand plan to help keep art appreciation alive. That being said, sometimes some of us need a whiff of something crisp and green to wake us up to the fact that the things are truly something special, and so I may mention auctions or price values. I know this is really unappealing to many art fans and downright abhorrent to others. In this case, I defend my actions by making note of the fact the some of yesterday's and today's greatest art patrons support the arts for purely financial purposes. And these people are responsible for providing for preservation and restoration. So, the artists that are alive and feel principled enough to starve are free to do so. I, however, will do what I can to make sure that people today and tomorrow won't be starved of a little culture. I do mine. You do yours. Feedback welcomed.
