Chu Wanghua (born 1941)[1] is a Chinese composer and pianist live in Yixing, Jiangsu and later moved to Australia and received a master degree.[2][3] He was the son of Chinese scholar Chu Anping.[4]

Chu Wanghua was born in Anhua County, Hunan.[5][3] His father posted "A Few Suggestions to President Mao and Premier Zhou" on Guangming Daily and gained many influences. At that time Wanghua want to enter Affiliated Middle School of Central Conservatory of Music, the conservatory leaders first refused his application, but accepted the application about a week later. In 1958 he entered Central Conservatory of Music with piano major.[6]He begun teaching in the conservatory in 1966[2]

He composed a village song for Erhu when he was 15, People's Daily referred to him as "a composer with red scarf"[4], later this piece's performance take place in the China First National Music Festival in 1956.[7][6]He also contributed to the composition of Yellow River Piano Concerto. [6][8][2]
