Eveline Street

This is a small informal business area situated in Katutura, Greenwell Matongo Street, Windhoek, Namibia. This area was initially a normal quite street on the outskirt of Katutura. Over the years small businesses started trading there, especially car washes.Business started going quite well and soon every business person started setting up temporary structures, to do their businesses ranging from salons to alcohol depots. This became a very busy area and was a center of attraction especially to the youth. Currently small businesses are mushrooming there. These ranges from shebeen to car wash businesses. The City of Windhoek wants to revamp this place and turn it into shopping corridor, because of its great potential. But the local people are totally opposing this move.

Evelin street has been under a lot of controversy, since it is both a security and a health hazard. [1][2][3]
