Tech LadyMafia serves as a networking opportunity and support system for those who work in digital fields and who identify as women.[5] Sow and Meyers launched the project to counteract erasure of women in tech fields and to highlight the work of those women, as a counter to the frequent reporting on low rates of women's participation in such work.[6]

In 2013, Sow and Jamelle Bouie launched a tumblr site called Journos of Color, which features writing and journalism by people of color. The mission of Journos of Color is to highlight the work of deserving writers of color, and to serve as a resource for editors who aim to diversify their writing staff.[7]

Sow began working at Google as part of Google.org, the corporation's charitable arm, and now works as the leader of Politics and Social Impact Marketing.[1] Part of her work includes marketing for Google's elections products, which are tools such as poll locators and live election results maps that help users navigate political elections.[1]
