Blitzball

edit

Blitzball is a minigame unique to Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 that requires strategy and tactics. It’s an underwater sport played in a large, hovering sphere of water. The player controls one character at a time as they swim through the sphere performing passes, tackles, and attempts to score. Blitzball is first introduced in the beginning of the game during one of the early cinematic sequences in which the main character, Tidus, star blitzball player, is part of an intense game. Unlike the other minigames, blitzball can be easily accessed at most save spheres throughout the game after the player reaching a certain point early on in the video game. It is also the only minigame that plays a role in the overall plotline.

It has been confirmed that director Naoki Yoshida plans to add blitzball as a minigame to Final Fantasy XIV.
