About Me

Hello! Welcome to my page. Some of my hobbies include making music, snowboarding and playing sports of any kind! Recently, I have been trying to work on reading more often with books by C.S. Lewis, who is one of my favorite authors with many inspiring topics and stories. I am the oldest of 3 and have lived on my own for the past 3 years. Leaving the nest was one of the most difficult things I have done. Through moving out I have learned how working hard is so important. No one will be able to help you in your personal growth except for you. This is a valuable lesson I have, and am continuing to learn. Personally I am hoping to become a Youth Pastor in the future hoping to help young kids find themselves, and who they are to become.

My Wikipedia activities

I am a lover of sports and have always been interested in the history of American athletes such as Jackie Robinson, Babe Ruth, and Jerry Rice. I would look into fact checking as well as the history of the athletes, where they grew up, making sure it was accurate, and represented the athlete in complete accuracy. The integrity of any website is very important and I hope to keep that in tact on Wikipedia.

Article Evaluation

I have always been interested in the Olympic Games and the origins of the games. The incredible moments that happen, where enemies and friends can come together in sports to put aside the disagreements and be at peace. That being said, I visited the Olympic Truce[1] article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: Is the article up to date, is anything left out of the article that should be there, and are any of the links dead?

From what I have looked at in this Wikipedia page, it looks to be up to date with all that has occurred within the Olympic Truce. The most recent reference on the page was retrieved on August 8, 2020 talking about the United Nations and the Olympic Truce. Another website was retrieved on May 20, 2020 talking about the United Nations as well.

After looking to see if the article was up to date, I looked into seeing if the article had left out anything that should be there. Overall, it looked like the important articles and facts were there. However, I think the article should have more on how each Olympic season and host showed the example of peace. Whether it be a performance, things behind the scenes or what the athletes did to respect one another during each Olympics.

Finally, I clicked on each of the links to see if any of them were dead. I found in the Logo section of the article to have a dead link. The link led to the website, but had a note that said, “Page Not Found”. I believe you can still see the logo on the website but I am not 100 percent certain. Seeing the ‘Page Not Found” also makes it feel less reliable and hard to completely be positive in what the link is showing.

Overall, the article was well put together with a few minor flaws. The article was well up to date with references found within the last six to ten months. However, there were little things I wish they added such as what each Olympic host did for their specific year in celebrating the Olympic Truce and there was a dead link where the article was showing the logo of the Olympic Truce. After reading through the article I learned more about the history of the Olympic Truce and was confident in the references shown.
