My name is Prabhakar and I work at Strand Life Sciences in Bangalore. I am an engineer from the IIT Madras but went to pursure my "current" passions right though life. And passions change. I moved into Biological Sciences, did Biomedical Engineering and then a PhD in Ecology from the IISc Bangalore. Was fascinated by the way communities in India living close to nature interact with it and live a life! All this makes me love travel and learn from nature.
Joined Strand Life Sciences in 2001 and worked on building datamining and data visualization tools for microarray data analysis. Moved into Biodiversity Informatics.
Currently, I work on building a biodiversity portal to crowd source and aggregate information for India and the Western Ghats. Look at it at http://indiabiodiversity.org and http://thewesternghats.in. I strongly believe in open source, open access to information, conservation commons, and shared under creative commons licenses.
