꽃미남 고양이 복돌이: The World's First Cat with a Frequent Flyer Pass...

Poktori (aka Poximus); click on pictures to see full-size version

I am a Blue Abyssinian living in Canberra, Australia. I was born in Carshalton, UK, on 2 June 1997 (during a heat wave, so I was first named "Celsius"). After I was adopted, however, my foster-parent called me Poktori, "lucky boy", a name that Koreans often use for small dogs and rabbits (who ironically I like to refer to as "lucky breakfast"). Since then I have travelled a lot and stayed with many friends of my foster-parent Roald, both large and small, in different places in the UK and the Netherlands. They include Sapphire and Scarletti (London), Broertie and Charlotte (Dordrecht), and Totoro (Amsterdam). I moved to Australia in 2006 and on the way acquired a frequent flyer pass from the kind ladies at Singapore Airlines. Since then I have had the pleasure of trying out Ozy feeders Carol and Mark, Natalya, Kent and Ty, Saskia, and Nat. They did a good job, I suppose, though they could have been a little less stingy on the quantity side of feed.

...and the winner of the Mr Hairy Armpit Contest 2007 is...

From the moment of my arrival I been working on my chops, establishing a bit of territory for me and my food processor Roald. I am currently performing fieldwork for the only chapter of my PhD on canning live mice (The Australian National University Press, forthcoming), which I expect to submit as soon as Roald's done editing out what he calls, "digressions into celebratory descriptions of flavour". Recently, on 9 January 2007, I asked the local Ainslie Fire Brigade to help me out of a tree. They were very honoured to do so, and it was fun looking at the four men's faces when I suddenly threatened to quickly climb out myself as the long ladder was being placed against the wooden terrace I was looking out from.

  • Update, 27 April 2007: went to vet with Roald to get an infected eye and a few puncture wounds (street fight...) looked at. The vet gave us antibiotics meant for dogs because "I probably weighed as much". Talk about adding insult to injury...
  • Update, 26 October 2007: silly man with some big labradoodle cross-breed passed our house and stopped to make his dog say hello to me. I do not like dogs, so I lost my cool and chased him around my place until I got him cornered (the dog). Roald finally stopped me, and gave me some extra beef mince. Suppose it was an okay morning.
  • Update 8 October 2008: moved to O'Connor. I wish I could go out more, but my joints are not what they used to be.
  • Update 20 November 2013: planning move to Turner. 17th birthday bash in 2014 is starting to look good. Hope the Wicked Wing sisters under KFC management will make it.
