How My Roommate & I Met

Hi classmates (and potentially the world)! My name is Karen and I'm a senior history major here at Converse University. My roommate, Mikki, and I have been best buddies since our freshman year of college. We didn't live together our sophomore year, but she kind of did because of all the sleepovers we had! Anyway, this is the story of how we met!

The summer before we started at Converse, we were both on our class Facebook page introducing ourselves. I came across her post and was immediately connected to her interests in the shows Parks and Recreation and Sherlock. She mentioned that she signed on to the swim team and was searching for a roommate. I remember thinking, "I also need a roommate!"

I then clicked on the photos that she attached and my eyes went WIDE. Her mother looked like she could be my mother's sister! (For some context, my mother is Okinawan but is always mistaken to be Filipino; Mikki's mother is Filipino!) I immediately left a comment on her post saying, "I need a roommate, too, and our moms look the same."

The rest is history! We decided to interview each other before solidifying that we would be roommates. We filled out all the paperwork. We then moved into our first dorm together. Our moms also met that day and it was mind-boggling!
