I'm Paul. I live in Islington, North London and I write about various aspects of Pop Culture.
My particular interests are reflected in most of the subjects of the books I've had published - classic Sixties bands such as The Kinks, The Byrds and Jeff Beck's various bands; the whole Punk thing from the Seventies; not much from the Eighties because it was the worst time for music ever; the Seattle and Britpop scenes of the Nineties; and right up to date with electronic music, the resurgance of "dance music" and the influence of the 'net.
The whole Nineties music explosion in the UK is the closest to my heart, as it was "my" time, although I was only in my Twenties on some occassions I felt old, such was the impact on the real "youth" and as such that is something I feel made the time every bit as important as the great movements and cultural upheavals of the Sixties and Seventies that had gone before.
I doubt I'll be starting many new wiki pages (everyhing seems to be done!) but I hope to add here and there with facts drawn from my personal experience and some of the detailed research I've undertaken for my published works.
If you have any comments on any of my wiki contributions, please let me know.
End of Noughties update!
Maybe I will be starting some new pages... or at least updating some I've already added to... recently having finished two major projects that have taken up the best part of the last two years now leaves a little upcoming "me" time for the first couple of months of the new decade.
I've also realised that The Noughties were as much "my time" as the previous decade, with a deepening realisation of the cultural movements music has made in the last seven or eight years in the electronic realms.
So, feel free to get in touch here if you read something I've written that you think isn't correct, or just want to talk to me about!
