About me
Hello! I'm Patricia Horrillo, a journalist deeply engaged in communication and social media, residing in Madrid, Spain. Since 2008, I have been an active editor on Wikipedia, contributing across various Wikimedia projects under the username PatriHorrillo. My professional journey is marked by a steadfast commitment to amplifying silenced voices and bridging knowledge gaps. This passion has not only shaped my career but also led me to engage in meaningful dialogues, such as addressing gender disparities in a TEDx talk titled "Nobody will talk about us (women) if we are not in Wikipedia".
My work
In 2015, I founded Wikiesfera, a workgroup established at Medialab-Prado in Madrid. My mission since then is to facilitate the learning process for individuals eager to edit on Wikipedia and to foster a deeper connection with the various projects within the Wikimedia universe. We are particularly focused on combating the encyclopedia’s content gaps regarding gender issues, historically underrepresented minorities (such as the LGBT community and the Romani people), and aspects of Spain's historical memory. Through organizing thematic edit-a-thons, we aim to attract new contributors to Wikipedia, thereby contributing to a more inclusive and accurately represented body of knowledge.
