However, Microcontroller and PLC both are used in industrial environment or critical condition but there is obvious reason to choose PLC over microcontroller where EMI is very high, some of the points are listed below: (1) PLC supports 24V signal that is more immune to noise. (2) PLC comes in modular design i.e. IO module, processor module and communication module is physically interconnected so can be easily replaced in case of failure of any particular section, whereas in case of microcontroller all parts are integrated in single PCB, so there is no replacement possible. (3) Ladder language of PLC is easy to understand by electrical engineers as it resembles to electrical wiring. (4) PLC is passed through different test for operation under extreme environment so there is no need to worry about environment where the device will be installed.
