Beata Naumnik

Beata Naumnik is a Polish nephrologist, transplantologist, and internal medicine specialist. She currently serves as the head of the 1st Department of Nephrology and Transplantation with Dialysis Unit at the Medical University of Bialystok. Prof. Naumnik has held various academic and professional positions throughout her career, including assistant professor, lecturer, and member of numerous expert teams and editorial boards. Her primary research focuses on endothelial dysfunction in chronic kidney diseases, CKD MBD in end-stage renal diseases, peritoneal dialysis, and infections after kidney transplantation.[1] Prof. Naumnik has authored numerous research papers, book chapters, and abstracts, and has received multiple honors and awards for her scientific activity.[2]

Education and career

Prof. Naumnik graduated with honors from the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Bialystok in 1996.[1] She then began her professional career as an assistant at the Provincial Specialist Hospital in Bialystok, Nephrology Unit, in 1997. In 1998, she became an adjunct professor at the Nephrology and Transplantation with Dialysis Unit of the Medical University in Bialystok. She obtained her first-degree specialization in internal medicine in 2000, the same year she received her PhD degree.[1] Prof. Naumnik went on to complete her second-degree specialization in internal medicine in 2004 and became a professor assistant at the Dept. of Nephrology and Transplantation with Dialysis Unit of the Medical University in Bialystok.[1]

In 2008, she passed the national examination and obtained the title of specialist nefrologist, followed by habilitation the same year.[1] In 2012, Prof. Naumnik passed the national examination to become a clinical transplantology specialist.[1] In 2013, she was nominated for the title of professor of medical sciences in the field of medicine by the Medical Faculty Council, and in September of that year, she became the head of the 1st Dept. of Nephrology and Transplantation with Dialysis Unit at the Medical University of Bialystok.[1] Prof. Naumnik was nominated by the Polish President in 2014.[3]

Didactic experience

Throughout her career, Prof. Naumnik has held various teaching and educational roles, including lecturer for undergraduate and graduate students in medicine, dentistry, dietetics, and pharmaceutics.[1] She has also led examination preparation sessions for the National medical exam, launched and managed a Medical Student Organization, and supervised numerous doctors' specializations in internal diseases, nephrology, and clinical transplantology.[1] Prof. Naumnik has also served as a member of several examination commissions, both at the state and university levels, and has authored 11 chapters in specialist coursebooks for students and medical practitioners.[2]

Organizational experience

Prof. Naumnik has been involved in the organization and management of several national and international conferences and events, including the 8th Congress of the Polish Society of Nephrology in 2004 [4] and yearly Scientific-Training Conference “Nephrocardiology” in Białowieża. [5]She has also organized numerous conferences and seminars in collaboration with international organizations and academies, such as the 23rd Conference of Progress in Peritoneal Dialysis and Academy of Peritoneal Dialysis in 2018[4] and the 9th Polish-Korean Seminar on Chronic Kidney Disease and Renal Replacement Therapy in 2018.[4] Prof. Naumnik has played an essential role in various research projects and clinical initiatives related to nephrology, transplantology, and internal diseases, including the monitoring of peritoneal dialysis patients.[4]
