I'm primarily based in Louisville, KY, but pre-COVID was traveling much more now that I've retired. I'm a former university history and sociology lecturer, semi-professional historian, and spent four years as a freelance print journalist, mostly doing features and profiles. My interests are college football, Fort Knox and Fort Campbell history, and as I get more involved, I'm looking forward to learning a lot more about a lot of things, by helping research and add citations/verify when needed.

(While I note these interests, I'm much more interested in helping validate and improve articles outside of my closest areas of expertise as I find it's easier to avoid subconscious shortcuts, assumptions, and biases when you're working on something you have only a passing, tangential, or no knowledge of. This has been my experience with the first three articles I've worked on and so I'll probably continue along that vein. Plus there are plenty of academics and sports fans already on here, as best I can tell!)

Suggestions, pointers, best practices, and lessons learned are welcome as I find my way! Thank you for welcoming me.
