Arikok National Park, located on the island of Aruba, is an ecological preserve of desert resources, including several indigenous species. It encompasses an area of 32 sqkm which is about 18% of the area of the island of Aruba. It was designated as park in 2003.[1][2][3]
The unique geological set up of the island comprising three Aruba formations namely, lava formation, quartz diorite formation and limestone formation has resulted in evolution of several species of reptiles and bird found only on the Aruba island.[3][4][5]
There are several known lime stone caves, popular hiking trails covering all types of terrain from hills to gold mines, plantation ruins, Arawak Indian wall drawings and many more, all of which are located with in the Arikok National Park.[3]
