Okanokona

Okanokona is a small homestead in Otjinene district.The place got its name from the elders who occupied the place as a temporary grazing area for their livestock during the dried season in the early 1950's.Over the years it grew to one of the formal homesteads in Namibia.It is mainly the Ovaherero and the san who live in this area.People in this homesteads are governed by traditional authority.This area is not developed and residents do not have access to clean water,electricity and all other latest Information Technology developments.Residents of this area make their living from livestock and related farming activities.Besides under development,this is a small peaceful homestead where people tread one another with respect and integrity.Okanokona is situated in the middle of nowhere as most people don't know about it.This place is located on eastern part of Namibia,a few kilometer from Gobabis.Gobabis is the Capital Town in Omaheke region.
