Samantha Cook (also known as Sam Cook; born April 17, 1973 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian actress and radio personality best known as a cast member of the YTV game show Uh Oh! as Slashin Sam. She was a DJ at Hamilton's Country 95.3FM for 7 years before leaving to teach Radio Broadcasting at Mohawk College. Sam is also a voice-over actress and can be heard on many TV and radio stations across Canada and USA.

Television edit

Best known as Slashin' Sam on YTV's hit show Uh Oh!, Sam was on air with the show for 7 years until it was cancelled by the network. She has made other appearances on CMT Star (CMT), Dedicated (CMT), Missing, Total Recall 2070, and reality show Paradise Seekers. Before Uh Oh, she interned in Late Show with David Letterman.

Radio edit

Sam started her radio career overnights at Kiss 92.5FM in Toronto CKIS-FM. She moved on to Energy FM where she was called "Diva of the Evening." Energy FM switched formats in 2003 to Country 95.3 CING-FM where Sam continued to entertain audiences until she left in 2009 for a job at Mohawk College. She has also worked at other popular radio stations like Y108 CJXY-FM, 102.1 The Edge CFNY-FM and 102.9 K-Lite FM CKLH-FM.

Voice Work edit

Sam began doing voiceover work in 2006 and since then has been heard voicing commercials for Avril Lavigne's Blackstar Perfume, Herbal Essences, Winners, Cineplex and more. In 2011, Sam was hired to be the voice of the Canadian Country Music Awards in Hamilton, Ontario. Canadian Country Music Association

Singing edit

Her love for singing began live on stage with Canadian country group Bareback Riders at the 2005 Canada Day Jam in Toronto, ON. Since then, she recorded the song written by Miranda Lambert called "More Like Her" in Stratford, ON which can be seen on YouTube.

Teaching edit

In 2004, Sam began working as a part-time instructor at Mohawk College teaching Television Broadcasting, Radio and Pre-Media courses. In 2009, Sam took on a full-time position as Program Coordinator and Professor of the Radio Broadcasting program at Mohawk College. (Fennell Campus – Hamilton) In 2013, she won the Mohawk Student Association's "Fennell Faculty Member of the Year" award for the 2012–2013 academic year. The award was voted on by the students of the Radio Broadcasting program.
