FicWad.com (also referenced as FicWad) is a user automated Fan fiction website. Was possibly created by a users known as "admin" and "Kemayo" on February 20, 2005. The site uses an opinion-based user quality scale, categories for types of stories (ex. Books, Games etc), sub-category for specifics to the category (Book > Lord of the Rings), and a rating scale from maturity of content. Through the years has gotten major popularity with up to 30.2 people. The site has 10 main categories: Anime/Manga, Books, Cartoons, Celebrities, Comics, Games, Movies, Orginal, Theatre, and TV. Registered users can: publish their Fan fiction, make reviews on their own or other users stories/chapters, rate quality of stories content, use a filter to search for the quality of every story (see Content Quality Rating Scale below), see NC-17 rated material, manage their profile, maintain a list of favorite stories and authors, and maintain a list of E-mail alerts for chosen stories.

From this section you can manage the options below Alerts After clicking on a story, if you scroll to the bottom there are 4 options including this which lets you get emails anytime that chapter or story is update. Favorites Through the same way to add a story to your alerts there is another box next to "Alerts" called "Favorites". With this when you log into your account and click favorites, your personal favorited stories appear Reviews These are review of your stories from other users. When viewing the reviews, you can say if they are helpful to you or not and comment back to the reviewer Stories This is where you can make and edit stories you have written. It is required that in every story the author must add.

Optionally the author can add

  • Warnings-the warnings are NOT a rating system, these are for if writing about something like a book there might be spoilers about future books that others might not have read. Along with that it might however describe why a story is rated how it is, with adjectives such as V for "violence" or X for "Sex" and so on

The makers of FicWad of created 10 categories in which every story on the site fits into. The categories (as meantioned in first paragraph) are as follows

Sub-categories In every category there are subcategories making the search more specific Ex. Celebrities>My Chemical Romance. There are set subcategories already there but by emailing one of the administrators you can suggest a new subcategory

Content Quality Rating Scale

Next to every story and chapter on FicWad there is a box with a number and a despcription word. The description words are either complimenting the story or saying what is wrong with it.

Good description words

  • Ambiance
  • Exciting
  • Funny
  • Hot
  • Insightful
  • Moving
  • Orginal

Bad description words

  • Boring
  • Cliche
  • Illiterate
  • MarySue
  • OOC
  • Predictable
  • Trainwreak

Next to the word there is a slight description of what each word means in that sense. To earn or be critzied by these words, any user must go to the story and rate it using the rating points described below

Rating Points

The number next to each story ranges from -1 to 5. Every week all users recieve 6 points that can be used to make stories look good or bad. The only way to recieve or lose rating points it to review others stories, if many users says your comment is helpful then you have the possiblity of getting more points, and if they say it is bad then you can lose points. You can only rate a story once.

Filter

When a user is logged in they can choose what rating the lowest rating of stories they want to see when searching. (ranging from -1 to 5 default at 0)

Maturity of Content

With every story the author must rated the maturity of the content with these 5 ratings (same as the MPAA ratings)

  • PG
  • PG-13
  • R
  • NC-17

NC-17

To be able to see NC-17 you must be logged in as a user (in the registration process it does not ask the exact age of register just that they are 13 or older)
