Russia in the World is an international Russian program aimed at promoting "traditional Russian spiritual and moral values abroad" to other nations around the world first created on 6 August 2024.[1]

Background

edit

Russia and President of Russia Vladimir Putin in particular were outspoken critics of what they deemed to be Western social ideology and the United States' and Europe's efforts to spread socially liberal values to other nations. Russia stated that these efforts represented attempts to undermine Russian influence and culture to other nations, deeming the West's values as "satanic".[1]

Creation

edit

On 6 August 2024, President of Russia Vladimir Putin requested that the Russian government set aside funds in order to create and spread an international program called "Russia in the World" to spread Russian cultures and values to other nations, specifically focusing on traditional values centered around Russian morality and spirituality. The order was posted on the official Kremlin website, with it focusing specifically on developing "international youth cooperation".[1]

Analysts believed that the program was specifically targeted at countering Western moral systems and beliefs, such as social liberalist, non-heterosexual exclusive sexuality, and non-traditional gender identity.[1]
